Unicorn 'Tapestries'

The Château d'Orquevaux contained several tapestries. Even Le Maison de la Vigne had a few that I was privy to while living in that darling hamlet for my artist residency in 2022. I took liberty to study them toward the end of my residency. They bore a resemblance to other tapestries I've become fond of, The Unicorn Tapestries at The Met Cloisters in New York and the Lady and the Unicorn at Le Musée de Cluny in Paris.
Overall, tapestries have a general layout and style as far as spatial and subject placement and each has an overall tone gained with the color palette. I tried to replicate that style with these four cradled panels and the monochromatic color palette, leaving the natural sepia colors of the wood and burns to provide the tone. The château itself was once a hunting lodge and the tapestries within depicted hunting scenes with wild boar. The château was included in their narratives. It was fitting, then, to include the château and the rest of the hamlet in my 'tapestries' as well. After all, they are part of the narrative.
